About

Heart-Led Celebrant

I  was first inspired to become a celebrant because of my experience with memorial services in Oklahoma, my home. Frankly, A Funeral and Memorial Service is about celebrating and loving the person who has passed. Period. There shouldn’t be any other agenda. These ceremonies, the final gift we give to our loved ones, are important and vital. A funeral should bring peace and even joy to those who are left behind. We all need closure, and at the very least, a space where we can appreciate the impact of our loved one’s life, and celebrate that life with friends and family. A Life Centered Funeral is all about that and I am very happy to be able to give such a special celebration to those who are grieving and are needing a safe space in which they can express their love and sorrow. There are so many wonderful, creative ways to say goodbye and to tell a person’s story. Life Centered Funerals are open to all sorts of venues and all walks of faith.  It is my belief that these types of funerals offer families and friends a lovely alternative to the usual impersonal and bland types we have all experienced before. I truly want to make a difference.

I grew up in Edmond, Oklahoma and my parents provided me with the most magical of childhoods.  I was surrounded by antiques, books, unconditional love and my days were filled with adventure! Baking with my mom, building tents in the living room, listening to my Dad tell me stories in which I was the heroine, playing with my dachshund, Nickodemus O’Malley, dancing in the rain, reading under a favorite honeysuckle bush that I had turned into a little hideaway and watching black and white 16 mm films on a projector that my dad had/  He’d thread the film onto the projector, Mom would hang a white sheet on the wall and we’d eat popcorn, pickles and peanuts and be transported to wonderful places under the flickering images.  My childhood taught me to enjoy every little moment and to see the magic and beauty in everything.

As an adult I still enjoy pretty much the same things though of course over the years I’ve added to my repertoire! Dancing to everything, walking barefoot, digging in the garden and delighting in the scent of sage and rosemary, drinking Darjeeling or Assam tea (I have to admit, Moroccan Mint is a rapidly growing favorite as well!), writing, reading about ancient history, singing, and painting!

To me, Celebrancy is a logical extension of my way of life, my intrinsic belief that we are the sum total of our thoughts and actions.  Every day is one that I mindfully create and it brings me such pleasure to be able to craft ceremonies that celebrate or memorialize other people’s journey! Whether it’s a Life Centered Funeral or a House Blessing, a Wedding that takes place under the stars or a Naming Ceremony for someone embarking on a new and wonderful life, I love it all.  I will always find the beauty and the magic in everything that I do, and I hope to give others a sense of peace and joy through the ceremonies and rituals I create for them.  Celebrancy is such a part of my soul.  I so look forward to creating something truly unique and special for you and your loved ones.

What I offer

A life is SO much more than a resume of dates and honors, awards and degrees. I have shared something of my story here, because our story is so important. My commitment is to understand so that we can  share in your loved one’s loves, hobbies, the things they did that made them smile, so that together we can share in that joy as we remember.
